I have a query time out error while processing a cube. The cube has partitions from 2007 till current year, when i try to process the partitions individually it gets processed in between 10-15 mins, the partitions for 2010,2011,2012 each take close to 15mins.
Now when i try to run the Query ( copy paste from SSAS) in management studio it takes the same amount of time.
The problem comes when i FULL Process the cube, each partition processing takes more than 4omins, and the 2010 partition Times Out after an hour (as the External Command Timeout Property of SSAs is set to 3600).
I also check the DB Server to see the active queries while the cube was processing and saw some wait type of type CXPACKET and Resource Semaphore. The DB server is allocated 15GB of memory and has a 2.2 Ghz 4 core processor.
Can anyone help me to find the actual cause of the issue and how to rectify this. As a work around i will try processing the cube increasing the External Command Time Out, but this doesn't fixes the issue in long run.
