SSAS - Method to script full role and [Dimension Data] security

Hi All

im currently investigating the best method for deploying cubes to our production environment. Synchronization seems a good choice to me since it is possible to avoid SSAS to overwrite SSAS security. Our cubes have [Dimension Data] security defined. An external assembly call that gives back the allowed members has been defined on the advanced tab. Since the call is specific to the environment (Server name is passed as a parameter), it shouldn't be overwritten.

Another deployment methodology I am investigating is Attach/Detach. This method also has its advantages but one of the disadvantage is that for example all the roles and security are taken from the copied cube. After the attach I would like to apply an XMLA script that overwrites these settings back to the environment specific state.

[Dimension Data] security has been defined on several attribute hierarchies of more than one dimension. Scripting the role by right-clicking on the role in management studio and then choosing Script Role as/Creat To only script the role itself.

Double-clicking on the role in management studio opens the Edit Role box. There you also have the possibility to script security related XMLA scripts. By choosing first the relevant attribute hierarchy and then clicking on Script button you have the possibility to script the [Dimension Data] security of the particular attribute hierarchy. I did not manage to create one script containing all the security settings. Can someone tell me if this is possible and how. Do I really have to create several script (one per secured dimension)?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Regards
Stefan
