I would like to create reporting for end user to access information in my SSAS. First, I have tried out the SSRS. However, I find it very limited. The design of search criteria is not nice. Even worse, I can't do any drag and drop operations on the dimensions.
Next, I have tried out Excel as the reporting solution. Excel does have nice pivot table features. However, the drawbacks are slow in generating the Excel and the Excel carries the limit of 65536 number of rows. With this small number of rows, I can't even analysis data more than 2 months.
In the meanwhile, I have actually purposed to use the SQL Server Management Studio directly. It's fast and support all the features required, like drag and drop dimension rearragement. However, the purposal has been banned as well because they afraid the end-user will not know how to use it. I guess the problems are the user may not know how to use the criteria and how to setup the grid. Is there anyway to create a template?
