I am using AdventureWorks, the downloadable sample database application that I can open directly using "Adventure Works.sln", which is a pre-written application running in Visual Studio and making use of the Analysis Services Project Type. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and using SQL Server 2008. My question applies to both the standard and enterprise versions of "Adventure Works.sln".
First I click on the Adventure Works Cube, and then in the list of tabs, I click on the browser, but I consistently get the same error message: "A connection could not be made. Ensure that the Server is running."
I did a bit of reconnaissance on this problem, and I checked the SQL Server Configuration Manager to insure that the Browser is activated, and it is. The only thing not activated is the SQL Server Integration Services, but I believe that is for a version prior to 2008. "SQL Server Integration Services 10" -- the version associated with the 2008 version -- is running.
No one has responded to either of the posts I've made to the "Expert's Exchange" and "CodePlex" sites, and I'm hoping that my luck is better here. Please help.
Thanks, ~Peter Ferber
P.S. In my first two posts -- http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/.NET/Visual_Studio_.NET_2005/Q_24496345.html and http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=10175, I've included accompanying images to help visualize where I am when things go wrong and a screen shot of the error message I get. As I do not see a place here for including images, I recommend going to either of these locations for accompanying visual cues.
